About Us

Genomics plc is a pioneering global health-tech company established in 2014. We have developed a world-leading team of scientists to drive our understanding of the genetic determinants of many common, chronic diseases. We partner closely with Pharmaceutical companies and Research partners to improve drug discovery and target validation.

The Role

This role sits within the life sciences team, a dynamic and cross-functional group taking on multiple challenges across the range of the therapeutic development cycle - from enabling therapeutic target discovery to using genetic risk prediction for the optimization of clinical trial design.

The Associate Medical Director is a senior team member, who leads and contributes to these efforts by:

  • Developing innovative and rigorous scientific strategies needed to address key challenges
  • Independently executing and adapting research plans to deliver high-quality scientific outputs
  • Effectively communicating findings to both internal and external stakeholders across a range of seniority levels and functions (e.g. Science, Medical, Commercial, Technology)
  • Bringing experience across a broad field of computational biology to contribute to multiple domains within our Company (e.g., genomic risk prediction approaches such as PRS; application of core approaches such as GWAS/colocalization for pharmaceutical objectives).

The Associate Medical Director role blends innovative scientific thinking with clinical/medical knowledge. The post-holder will also contribute to the broader medical team and will be a key strategic role at the interface of medical and science in our broader life-sciences strategy.

What you will need:

  • Expertise in statistical genetics, computational biology, genetic epidemiology with experience in applications relevant to the life sciences (e.g., genetic risk prediction to inform clinical trial enrollment, genetics for target discovery & validation)
  • Effective communication skills to enable understanding and foster engagement with both internal and external stakeholders across a range of seniority levels (written and/or presentations)
  • Ability to lead for Genomics in interactions with 3rd parties, including the ability to navigate dialogue to reach desired end goals
  • MD/PhD or PhD educated, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience in performing foundational genetic association analyses (e.g., GWAS; PRS)

Non-essential experience that would be useful:

  • Experience utilizing a broad array of additional statistical genetic approaches (e.g., colocalization; fine-mapping; Mendelian Randomization) to drive insights
  • Experience within the life sciences industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech industry)
