Locum Trust Grade Doctor in Liaison Psychiatry

Job Description:

We are looking for a Locum TrustGrade Doctor to join our Liaison Psychiatry Team based at Torbay Hospital. Thepost Holder will be supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist for the team.

The Post is full time for a 6 monthperiod, though there may be possibility to extend beyond this depending on thecircumstances of the team at the time.

This is a full time post (thoughinterested LTFT candidates will also be considered).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working withpeople who experience a wide variety of mental disorders and will beundertaking assessments and formulating management plans for people presentingto the General Hospital Emergency Department and the General Hospital wards.Experience of working in Psychiatry as a Junior Doctor is therefore veryimportant to the role.

Person Specification Ability
  • Ability to interview and assess patients and write clear and comprehensive notes.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with persons with mental health problems.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Willing to seek help from senior colleagues when appropriate.
  • Good oral and written presentation skills
Clinical Skills
  • Competent in history taking and examination skills in Psychiatry.
  • Accepts responsibility and able to take leadership for assessment and development of management plans.
  • Able to engage people using psychological models.
Qualifications
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • Full Registration with GMC
Experience
  • Completed pre-registration year
  • (or equivalent outside the UK).
  • Experience of working in Liaison Psychiatry.
  • Experience of working in Psychiatry as a doctor for a minimum of 4 months.
Team working Skills and Motivation
  • Able to establish good working relationships with other members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to career progression.
  • Contributes to departmental training sessions.
  • Able to organise own learning.
Knowledge and other
  • Knowledge of presentations commonly encountered in Psychiatry
  • Experience of completing QI / medical audit.
  • Computer Literacy
  • Knowledge of clinical presentations commonly encountered in Liaison Psychiatry
