Job Advert: SENCO (Maternity Cover) Location: Wellingborough Contract Duration: Maternity Cover (Start ASAP) Working Days: 4 days per week Employment Type: Part-time, Temporary Agency: Aspire People About the Role: Aspire People is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a welcoming primary school in Wellingborough. This is a maternity cover position, starting as soon as possible, with a part-time schedule of four days per week. As a SENCO, you will play a crucial role in leading the school's SEN provision, ensuring that all students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need to thrive. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the school's SEN provision and ensure it aligns with national guidelines. Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to identify, assess, and support pupils with SEND. Develop, implement, and review individual education plans (IEPs) and targeted interventions. Provide guidance and support to classroom staff on inclusive teaching practices. Liaise with parents and caregivers, maintaining strong communication and partnerships. Ensure the school is fully compliant with SEND legislation and effectively uses resources to support pupils. Monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with SEN, ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and NASENCO qualification (or working towards it). Proven experience as a SENCO or in a similar SEN leadership role. Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEN Code of Practice. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies. A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
