Laboratory Assistant - work with a leading global healthcare provider promoting talent internally. Is this the role you are looking for If so read on for more details, and make sure to apply today. Whilst this is a 12 month contract you will have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions internally. As a Laboratory Assistant you'll play a crucial role in supporting scientists to develop genomic analysis tools. This position entails working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where you'll be responsible for various lab-related tasks to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain laboratory products and consumables, including stock ordering and requisitioning.
  • Assist the Lab Management Team with tasks such as inventory maintenance, storage organization, waste management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the maintenance of lab accreditation and assist with audits and quality investigations.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping in all laboratory areas.
  • Assist with equipment relocation, calibration, and routine maintenance.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external visitors, and contractors as required.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to laboratory staff.
  • Participate in scheduled inventory cycle counts.
Please note that while these responsibilities are essential, additional tasks may be assigned based on business needs. Requirements:
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively track progress.
  • Willingness to undertake challenging routine tasks involving chemical or biochemical procedures.
  • A-Levels, or equivalent, in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • Experience in chemical use and handling is desirable but not essential.
Experience/Education:
  • A-Levels, or equivalent, in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills:
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and apply common sense understanding.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and clerical procedures, including equipment operation and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in math calculations, solution preparations, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
