ROLE: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

REMIT:

Working closely with the CEO and the wider board, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the company's technical vision & strategy in alignment with the business objectives and growth strategy.

In summary you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the wider business to prioritise features and enhancements based on customer feedback and market trends.
  • Manage and mentor a talented technology team (current team is 30 inc. software engineers, architects, infrastructure engineers and security experts), fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Oversee the design, architecture, and development of multiple SaaS products, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, scalability, and security.
  • Manage the end-to-end security & compliance strategy ensuring the products delivered are secure, robust and in line with company expectations.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the product roadmap and business strategy.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize processes, increase efficiency, and streamline development workflows.

KEY EXPERIENCE:

Snapshot Experience:

  • CTO | Tech Leader ideally experienced working within a PE backed SaaS businesses.
  • Can evidence development & execution of technology strategy tied to business plan.
  • Hands on experience scaling tech functions in growing companies (£10m ARR -> £50m+ ARR).
  • Extensive multi-product Microsoft & Azure experience preferred.
  • M&A - Has been involved with integrating acquired products into R&D teams and supporting Technology DD on buy and sell side.

A little further on what we expect you will offer:

  • Experience of designing scaled engineering teams and change within the structure of teams (squads vs. no squads, separate QA vs. integrated with dev, specialisation of product roles)

  • Experience of driving & leading high-performance teams as measured by productivity and quality.

  • Significant experience defining appropriate KPI's, systems and processes for tech function - strong understanding assessing tech investment and debt…. and strong communicator.

  • Strong commercial acumen - can evidence developing harmonisation between tech, commercial and product - experience in customer facing roles / developing customer feedback and integration processes.

  • Someone who is happy to "say no" - e.g. pushing back when we try to put too much in the roadmap, when something might risk quality or introduce tech debt etc. Scores highly on wave profile for "confrontational" and "challenging".

  • Board level CTO, prior experience in a PE/VC-backed environment is essential, have led M&A activity, managed & mentored technology teams of 30+, delivered implementation ISO27001 policies and procedures and represented companies externally.

Package: Six figures + equity options available (in the new round)

Location: the company operates a 4 days (office) and 1 day (wfh) policy and therefore, it is expected that you will be based in the North West, or happy to relocate to the region.
