Job Description

Dyson Farming Research is looking to recruit a Trial Supervisor to work on a full time, permanent basis. This mixed practical hands-on role, working both in the Glasshouse and in the office, will be based out of our Carrington site in Lincolnshire.

You will organise and deliver the practical work and reporting for a number of research projects.

You will need to be well organised, flexible and able to manage high workload peaks and work flexibly to meet seasonal workloads with occasional weekend work (and occasional unsociable hours). The role can be physically demanding, with periods of standing /walking.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Working within a team of existing researchers to ensure quality research projects are delivered on time
  • Coordinate and participate in the technical delivery of Dyson Farming Research crop assessments for our Glasshouse R&D areas
  • Managing plants to specific protocols for a variety of crop trials. Plant care, including watering, potting, feeding, monitoring, treating for pests and diseases, staking, dead-heading, pruning, harvesting and propagating and occasionally assessing and photographing plants
  • Work towards managing projects ensuring key objectives and deadlines, are met, ensuring high levels of scientific credibility and client satisfaction are achieved
  • Populating trial protocol documents ready for review by colleagues
  • Maintain a correct handling of extremely confidential and sensitive information

Person specification:

  • The suitable candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to work, with inhouse and external training provided to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Strong literacy skills, including attention to detail in written work
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a large volume of information and documents and competing priorities
  • Proactive and methodical approach to work
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications with the ability to learn company-specific software
  • A full driving licence to drive manual vehicles in the UK is essential
  • A progressive attitude with flexibility and willingness to take on a wide range of challenges
