The job itself

An exciting 6 month fixed-term opportunity has arisen to become the Early Help and Prevention Senior Children’s Services Administrator.

The role presents a unique opportunity to join an ambitious service in a key role working towards delivering high quality services for children, young people and their families.

The Early Help and Prevention service provides additional support to children, young people and families. This may be whole family support, addressing the individual needs of children and young people or providing advice and more general support through telephone or group-based activities. The service is based across the East Riding with teams based in Children’s Centres, locality hubs or centrally in County Hall, Beverley. This post is being advertised on a fixed term basis due to a planned reshaping of the service offer, including the development of the Family Hubs offer, and the associated realigning of resources.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and committed to providing a quality service, have a flexible approach and the ability to adapt to a changing environment. To undertake this role successfully you need to be customer focused, able to work easily within a challenging environment, have excellent administrative and organisational skills and have the motivation and desire to achieve a high quality service. You should be able to demonstrate effective use of a range of ICT systems/software packages.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are essential as this role is often the first point of contact for parents, professionals and the public.

You will have line management responsibility for administrators based within the children’s centres and also staff based at County Hall.

A high level of customer service is required as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive material. Teamwork plays a vital role as does the ability to meet deadlines and work on your own initiative.

You will be expected to ensure administrative processes are carried out accurately and efficiently by checking, verifying and authorising processes and provide reports on data and information for operational staff.

We welcome secondment applications and remind you to seek permission before applying on this basis.

This is a great opportunity to have an insight into the service area and the invaluable support we provide for families in the East Riding.

The Council offers many remote working opportunities as part of our commitment to providing flexibility wherever possible for our employees.
