University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to a recruit a qualified audiologists to work with the paediatric audiology team.


Audiology at Derby and Burton Hospitals benefits from using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to offer a wide range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services for children of all age 0-19 years including children with complex needs in South Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Post holders will be expected to deliver high quality audiological care in a fast-paced environment. Audiologists at Derby and Burton Hospitals work with a range of professionals including ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) consultants, primary care physicians, paediatricians, and advisory teachers for hearing. Applicants should have a minimum of a BSc (Hons) in Audiology or equivalent, have excellent oral and written communications skills and possess good IT skills. Experience of working with children would be advantageous.

UHDB is a research active University Hospital with a large and varied portfolio of clinical trials and research opportunities for all staff.

The main purpose of this role is to provide routine audiological care for children and young people specifically, this involves the assessment and management of hearing impairment of patients over five years of age. The post holder will also assist in specialist clinics for children under five, special education needs, tinnitus, and newborn hearing diagnostics.


Perform a range of routine audiological procedures including otoscopy, pure tone audiometry (including assisting Visual Reinforcement Audiometry), tympanometry, probe microphone measurements, and aural rehabilitation.


Supervises and/or trains less experienced staff in own audiology.
Education, Training and Qualifications and CPD Requirements
BSs (Hons) Audiology or equivalent
Registered as one of the following, or in the process of registering: oRCCP as a Clinical Physiologist, oHCPC as a Hearing Aid Dispenser, o HCPC as a Clinical Scientist, oAHCS as a Healthcare Scientist
