We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join our small but rapidly growing company with operations in the UK, US and Australia. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic guidance for sustainable growth. The role will be hybrid with a minimum two days per week in our offices in central Oxford.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day financial activities with ownership of accounting systems (including P&L and Balance Sheet for all three jurisdictions)
  • Monitor and implement appropriate internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity.
  • Conduct thorough financial planning and analysis to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial legal requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely month end close (including balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Coordinate the monthly confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement (including invoicing) of all trading activity and industry costs in the UK and US. Assist with the Australian client invoice processes.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers.
  • Continuously assess and enhance financial processes to optimise efficiency.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis to support Financial Controller and CFO.

Requirements:
  • Strong alignment with Habitat Energy's culture and values
  • Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS)
  • Proven experience in a small to mid-sized company ideally with an international presence.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite and specifically, Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
Desired:
  • Experience collaborating with team members remotely and across time zones.
  • Experience with Xero accounting software (or similar).
  • Experience preparing and reviewing VAT returns.
  • Experience in the energy or utilities industry.
