The company I am partnering with are a dynamic national facility located at Alderley Park, dedicated to connecting and advancing the UK's drug discovery community. Our mission is to validate cutting-edge methods of discovering new medicines and to foster key talent and expertise across the sector.

As a Lead Scientist in Cell and Molecular Biology , you will be looking to provide scientific and project leadership within our team. In this role, you will drive collaborative projects and enhance our capabilities through innovation and the integration of cutting-edge technologies.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of scientists, ensuring effective line and matrix management for projects involving multiple platforms.
  • Drive collaborative projects to successful completion, delivering high-quality data in a complex, time-sensitive research environment. This includes coordinating multiple internal and external resources.
  • Establish and lead collaborations aimed at developing innovative solutions for drug discovery programs.
  • Contribute drug discovery knowledge, scientific insight, and innovative technical approaches for more successful drug discovery programs
  • Effective communication and research collaboration skills, working with a wide range of colleagues in range of academic and commercial organisations

Qualifications And Experience

  • The successful candidates will possess a PhD in cell or molecular biology, or relevant area, with substantial relevant postdoctoral experience in therapeutic characterisation
  • Experience of working in drug discovery, and developing in vitro assays ideally in an industry setting
  • Extensive experience in culture of mammalian cells including background of working with primary cells and iPSC derivatives and analysis of phenotypic responses
  • Experience in line management and leadership of a team of scientists
  • Experience in novel therapeutic approaches, for example with particular expertise in lipid nanoparticles, cancer vaccines, ADCs or other complex medicines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both experts and non-experts in the field
