MANAGING DIRECTOR OPPORTUNITY (CHANNEL ISLANDS) Wholesale Building Materials

Our client is a well-established SME based in the Channel Islands, operating within the builders’ merchants and building products industries. The business has enjoyed growth both organically and through acquisitions, and the company is now looking to recruit a new high calibre Managing Director to lead one of their acquired businesses in Jersey.

The incoming Managing Director will be responsible for leading the company through a phase of positive transformation and sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and highly commercial business leader, with a successful track record of shaping and growing businesses in the building products industry. This is a full-time position in Jersey.

Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Rapidly become acquainted with the Group management style and operational philosophies; Devise and implement demanding targets for improvement in market share, profit margin and customer satisfaction measures, without compromising quality
Degree educated, MBA preference
~ Strong commercial background in relevant field
~5-10 years senior management experience operating at strategic level within a comparable business
~ Proven senior management experience, preferably with a commercial or general management background within the building merchant’s industry
~ Strong commercial leader with P&L experience, with demonstrable track record of growing and developing a business
~ Exceptional skills in communication, motivation, and interpersonal relations, and able to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results and strategy
