Description

As the global controller for a crypto financial company, your role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of the company's financial operations on a global scale. You'll oversee the entire financial reporting process, from data collection to analysis and presentation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), as well as any specific regulations governing the crypto industry.

Your responsibilities extend beyond traditional financial reporting to encompass the unique challenges and complexities inherent in the crypto space. This includes staying abreast of evolving regulations and industry standards related to digital assets, blockchain technology, and decentralized finance (DeFi).

You'll collaborate closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, particularly in areas such as anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) requirements.

In addition to maintaining financial compliance, you'll play a crucial role in managing financial operations and optimizing resource allocation. This involves developing and implementing robust financial controls and processes to safeguard assets and mitigate risks. You'll oversee budgeting and forecasting activities, providing strategic insights to support decision-making and resource allocation across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with GAAP and international accounting standards.
  • Accounting standards : Oversee a global accounting team to ensure accurate and timely month-end closes with complete and appropriate controls and processes to perform balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis. Ensure that the company is up-to-date with accounting standards within the digital asset industry.
  • Internal Controls : Establish and maintain robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Tax Compliance : Manage global tax compliance activities, including tax planning, transfer pricing, preparation of tax returns in coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Audit Coordinatio n: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory agencies, ensuring a smooth audit process and timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions : Provide financial accounting expertise and due diligence support for potential acquisitions, mergers, and strategic partnerships.
  • Team Leadership : Build and develop a high-performing global finance team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and Chartered Accountancy / CPA qualified (or equivalent certification).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience in industry, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing global accounting operations, preferable as a Controller or Chief Accounting Officer.
  • Experience in a regulated company with direct communication with regulators preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, including GAAP and IFRS, with a strong understanding of their application in the crypto industry.
  • Proven track record of managing complex financial operations on a global scale.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, particularly in relation to the crypto industry, including AML, KYC, and other relevant regulations.
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, digital assets, and decentralized finance (DeFi), and their implications for financial reporting and compliance.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights to drive business decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with senior management and Boards as well as the ability to communicate cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on implementing efficient processes and controls to mitigate risks and optimize financial performance.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry trends, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • High degree of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity and transparency.
  • Experience working in a multinational company or with international operations, with a solid understanding of global financial markets and regulatory environments.
