Our client is currently seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join their team as a Non-Teaching Head of Year. This pivotal role is integral to ensuring the academic and pastoral success of the year group assigned to their care. As a Non-Teaching Head of Year, you will lead Form Tutors and their cohort of pupils in identifying key areas for improvement and implementing appropriate actions to support their progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Form Tutors and pupils in identifying areas for improvement and planning actions.
  • Manage both the people and resources associated with the assigned year group.
  • Monitor the quality of learning experienced by the year group through liaison with Faculty Leaders.
  • Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
  • Promoting a learning environment that ensures all pupils make progress.
  • Monitoring progress and behaviour across allocated year groups.
  • Ensuring pupils are placed on appropriate reporting systems and interventions are effective.
  • Leading completion of early help assessments and liaising with the SENCO.
  • Monitoring attendance and supporting interventions.
  • Evaluating the impact of homework, rewards, planners, uniform, and equipment.
  • Coordinating events such as progress reviews, rewards, assemblies, and trips.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with parents/carers and supporting colleagues in meetings.
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues' professional development.
  • Offering CPD and sharing good practice.
  • Using data to inform actions and running targeted intervention courses.
  • Overseeing activities to raise pupil aspirations and contribute to the school ethos.
  • Ensuring all safeguarding duties are adhered to.
  • Undertaking appropriate professional development and promoting the school's vision and aims.
  • Setting an example of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and parents/carers evenings.

Requirements:

  • Experience forming positive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in Child Protection and/or safeguarding.
  • Experience providing pastoral support.
  • Knowledge of using data systems for monitoring, evaluation, and review.
  • Ability to inspire and challenge pupils.
  • Strong commitment to improving educational opportunities.
  • Willingness to be first aid trained.
  • Openness, enthusiasm, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to pupil and staff wellbeing.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient in challenging circumstances.
