In our CFCs - together with the proprietary software applications - we operate a world-class online grocery business that automates the single pick of products, ready for your online delivery. We are looking for a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Warehouse Department Manager (known internally as an Area Manager) to work Days at our Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Erith; The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the performance of a designated department within the warehouse of the CFC in an efficient and professional manner, ensuring all targets are met without loss in performance to the business and within the site management structure. As an Area Manager you will lead the daily running of site operations with responsibilities relating to all aspects of site safety and quality of service, delivering operational targets within the agreed budget and time frame. You will report to the Operations Manager and may be required to deputise in their absence, as well as handling all aspects of employee management such as probation periods, absence management and performance management.
Due to having two rotating teams to cover the operation, there will be occasions where both teams are working on the same day, on a crossover shift, meaning there will be a requirement to occasionally work a 5th day per week, as needed.
Please note the Area Manager role within Ocado involves managing the warehouse operatives and the day to day running of a single department within the warehouse and not multiple sites across a region.
You will continuously encourage self-improvement, training and development of your teams to support succession planning and aim to drive and develop initiatives that encourage site-wide engagement and enhance morale. Experience in conducting formal meetings, understanding and applying the relevant policies appropriately is desired. Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance are preferred and previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment are essential.
