Fantastic new opportunity to the market to join our Glasgow-based tech-for-good client, specialising in digital solutions and who have a huge global reach. Due to increased success in their space and demand for their services, they are now recruiting for a Site Reliability Engineer to join the team as they embark on a hugely exciting roadmap.

The core function of the role will be to maintain a secure and reliable infrastructure, define and manage the infrastructure and support the internal applications, administered in Kubernetes. From a tech perspective, I'm looking for someone from a software development background (ability to code in either Python, Java, C# or equivalent). A blend of AWS, CI/CD and containerisation will also be pivotal, as will a focus on automation.

The role is multi-faceted and you will be tasked with maintaining uptime, handling coding issues, scalability and infrastructure-as-code for deployments among others. You will analyse and recommend technology improvements and upgrades, develop best practices and advise on scaling, ensuring a true contribution to the business.

Communication and collaboration will be key to work alongside the software, systems and test teams effectively. Candidates who are proactive and dedicated are preferred, as this role is highly visible.

This is a remote role, with a quarterly visit to the office in Glasgow for team retros and collaboration.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Mastery with at least one programming language and framework (Python, C#, Java etc.)
  • Working knowledge of all enterprise domains
  • Broad and demonstrable experience across the AWS Cloud platform
  • Proven commercial experience of infrastructure as code techniques using Terraform, CloudFormation or Pulimi
  • Ability to Administer Docker images in Kubernetes clusters.
  • A depth of CI/CD tooling expertise - Jenkins, TeamCity, Spinnaker or equivalents
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Organisational and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication
