The commodity buyer is responsible for efficiently executing purchasing processes. This will involve driving strategic procurement initiatives, evaluating suppliers, managing relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, engaging in administrative activities, and supporting contract management processes.
Contributing to Commodity sourcing strategies and ensures alignment with procurement policy and procedures.
Provides support to the Site Procurement Manager in developing a business listing of preferred suppliers.
Supports in addressing queries and issues relating to procurement processes and procedures.
Establishes local service level agreements with end users, in conjunction with the procurement manager.
Observes and enforces purchasing ethics.
Ensures adherence to, and staff understanding of, purchasing policies and procedures to ensure standards are upheld.
Suggests and works with the procurement leadership team to establish, process improvements, contributing to implementation and adherence on-site.
Monitors supplier performance and informs relevant stakeholders about this performance under the guidance of procurement leadership.
Negotiates local or regional contracts in conjunction with relevant procurement managers.
Advises end users of suitable items of acceptable quality at the most cost-effective prices.
Compiles and submits monthly work reports to senior stakeholders.
Prepares for and applies a range of negotiating tactics to achieve win-win commercial and non-commercial outcomes.
Procurement due diligence: Ensures the organisation and its suppliers enter contracts aware of the relevant deliverables, timescales, costs, risks and other commitments.
Working with data: Proficient in collecting, handling, analysing and presenting various types of data.
