You will play an important part in the lives of the people we support by helping encourage them to create nutritious and tasty food. You will be helping the people we support learn new cooking skills while supporting them to cook tasty and flavoursome meals. It would be really good if you could also help them make meals from different parts of the world, giving it a bit of zing T hese cooking sessions will take place from Monday to Friday at our service in Maidstone.
To be passionate about food and confident using culinary equipment
A food hygiene qualification would be beneficial, but can provide training if required
To be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures
Please note that y ou will need to be over the age of 18 in order to apply for this role.
Upon receipt of your application, a member of our friendly Volunteering Team will contact you for an informal chat and to explain about the next steps.
As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.
At SeeAbility we specialise in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss, to realise their goals each and every day.
We encourage people with disabilities to challenge what they expect from life, from themselves and from wider society.
Registered as The Royal School for the Blind, SeeAbility is one of the oldest disability charities in the UK and has pioneered specialist support for over 220 years.
SeeAbility provides training and this can help you to develop new skills.
Volunteers can claim travel expenses.
