If so we would like you to join our mental health pharmacy team. You must be someone who works well in a dynamic team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. You will also need to have the skills to be able to work within the wider multi-disciplinary team of nurses and doctors and other allied healthcare professionals and managers. You will want to develop and improve the reliability and quality of our clinical pharmacy service. You will need to have specific experience working with pharmacy teams and patients within the mental health setting. You will want to reach targets set by the Trust and by the pharmacy service. You must be self- motivated and able to motivate others.

Our ELFT pharmacy team provides pharmacy services to a wide range of community and inpatient service users in Luton and Bedforshire, City and Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets. This includes children and young people to adults of working age, older adults, and forensic patients. We provide a broad range of clinical pharmacy services to our inpatient wards and are supported by trained medicines management technicians.

Main duties of the job

You will lead on the provision of pharmacy services in City and Hackney, including forensic services. You will also provide support to the medicines management technicians and pharmacists, provide operational support where required, provide a clinical pharmacy service to inpatient wards and work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a safe and effective service to mental health patients in our directorate. You will have a particular role in implementing and monitoring the clinical pharmacy standards and working closely with the Pharmacy Services Manager to identify service gaps. You will be responsible for areas of service and line management of pharmacists and technicians. You will also be involved in working with the other lead pharmacists in undertaking and developing audits and projects to evaluate and improve services alongside pharmacy and trust priorities and objectives.

Person Specification

Educational/ Qualification

Essential

  • oBTEC/ City & Guilds/NVQ3 pharmacy or equivalent
  • oAccredited MMT technician
  • oRegional Accreditation for Checking dispensed items (ACT accreditation)
  • oEducational Supervisor

Experience

Essential

  • oExperience in hospital pharmacy post qualification
  • oSuccess in a previous post requiring completion of work to deadlines
  • oManagement experience
  • oWorking within a multidisciplinary team
  • oImplemented/provided a Self Administration Scheme
  • oExperience in tutoring and training
  • oDrug history taking
  • oWard based clinical work
  • oPrevious experience of audit

Desirable

  • oPrevious experience in providing clinical mental health services.
  • oProducing reports
  • oCreating rota

Knowledge/ Skills

Essential

  • oAble to monitor, review and develop service standards
  • oUse of Microsoft Excel/Word to intermediate level Able
  • oGood written and oral communication skills
  • oNumerate - able to perform simple calculations
  • oAbility to work carefully with attention to detail
  • oAbility to work unsupervised in an organised manner

  • oIdeas of how ward services may develop over the next few years and the factors that may affect these developments
