The University Hospital of Hartlepool achieved Elective surgical hub accreditation in December 2023 becoming the first hub in Tees Valley. This is an exciting opportunity to join us in our journey as we further develop and expand and we are looking for enthusiastic experienced orthopaedic scrub practitioners. The hub specialises in high volume, low complexity, Getting it Right First Time criteria and discharge on the day of surgery. These posts are integral to ensure further development of the hub to support the local community. This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your career with 3 dedicated theatre clinical educators who will support you in your role with 1:1 training, development, immersive simulation, ongoing CPD and bespoke training packages both internally and externally. The posts are ring fenced to the Hartlepool Hospital site, working over a 6 day period with no night shift or on calls. Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the provision of skilled perioperative care as a member of the multidisciplinary team. To actively participate in the management of junior staff and students. As a skilled orthopaedic scrub practitioner have a good understanding of the knowledge and theory of orthopaedic procedures ensuring the equipment is available, policies and procedures are adhered to. Participate in the surgical safety WHO checklist and count procedures and be responsible for safe use of complex equipment.

Maintain accurate documentation and demonstrate effective communication across the MDT, patient and family. Ensure the physical and psychological environment is conducive to providing optimum patient care for perioperative patients.
