An opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Product Manager to join the Commercial & Mobility department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. The individual will support the business in identification and prioritisation of product strategies, product delivery, go-to-market approach, commercial business models and benefits realisation for the mobility portfolio. They will be fluent in differentiated business models and value propositions that enable exciting product and Business Development to secure new business. The individual should think customer first and be focussed on problem identification and quantification. They will have a good appreciation of the global macro environment and be able to identify emerging trends that would support the acceleration of the Mobility vision; understanding how it plays within the broader energy ecosystem.

Job role:

  • Identify and define product strategy and roadmap across the business vertical and support the product team with knowledge and insights to improve product strategies.
  • Take accountability of products through the New Product Creation System (NPCS) process.
  • Desk and customer driven market research and analysis to support the creation of product market strategy. Utilising techniques such as PESTLE, SWOT, TAM, SAM, SOM, scenario planning.
  • Capture customer requirements, and understand commercial, timing and technical feasibility by working alongside technical teams. Be a key gatekeeper of Product Specifications, ensuring that a Minimum Viable Product can be identified to maximise commercial opportunities.
  • Proactively developing sector-specific go-to-market strategies with Product Marketing.
  • Ability to produce proposals and analyse complex problems and business cases, sometimes working as part of a team and sometimes independently.
  • Maintaining awareness of Fortescue WAE product competitive landscape in all market sectors.
  • Forecasting and help support meeting revenue targets through the sales of products, technologies and services in the agreed target markets.
  • Acting as a primary point of interaction with potential and current customers for the Fortescue WAE Product range
  • Drafting, preparing and reaching agreement on commercial terms for products in association with the commercial, technical, legal, and/or finance departments. 
  • Providing regular reports of a qualitative and quantitative nature on the progress of product roadmaps, and business development activity and documenting and maintaining a prioritized prospects list together with the Business Development team to support the ongoing commercialisation of FFI-WAE products.
  • Defining and supporting the development of effective sales and marketing collateral associated with the promotion and sale of Fortescue WAE products.
  • Working with the rest of the Fortescue WAE commercial team to incorporate customer demands into the company’s product and services offerings. 
  • Assisting in ways to improve the overall Fortescue WAE Commercial team performance.
  • Contributing to key industry event attendance and always representing Fortescue WAE professionally.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with all other Fortescue WAE departments and following the company’s health and safety policy.
  • International and national travel to attend customer meetings and agreed events.

You’ll have:

  • Experience in a commercial, product or business development role within a focus industry for Fortescue WAE, in particular mobility / EV products and solutions.
  • Experience in formulating and executing against product strategy, including overseeing business case creation and benefits tracking.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management and Engineering teams; ability to run product development through a lifecycle.
  • Ability to demonstrate previous experience and success of commercial contract negotiation and product strategy experience.
  • Experience of working across markets and regions within energy, automotive, or related industries would be advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge of government regulations and mandates that influence future market opportunities, plus good understanding of technology trends.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline and ability to think strategically.
