Job Description:

We are looking fora Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join the South Hams and West Devon OPMHteam based at Totnes Hospital/Ivybridge.This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly experienced and dynamicteam as we move in to a more locally delivered service, linking in with ourprimary care networks.

The role isdynamic and challenging. You will manage a complex caseload of organic andfunctional presentation. Working in amulti-disciplinary way to support the mental health needs of our clients.

Wewill support you to learn the skills you need to thrive in the role. We willoffer you the training anddevelopment support you need to begin a fulfilling career. In return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and eagerto learn.

Main duties of the job

You will have atleast 2 years experience of working with people affected by mental illness in ateam environment,. The role involves liaising and communicating with variousagencies, so we expect that you have excellent verbal and written skills. We expect you to have a good computer skills

Interactingwith patients and the public you will be confident in giving clinicalinformation and advice that improves their experience. Dealing with sensitiveinformation daily, you will understand the importance of data security.

You will oftenwork under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking forsomeone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your ownworkload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will becomean important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receiveshigh quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staffmember, demonstrating activities to them and providing supervision to supportadministrators.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • A professional mental health qualification and registration e.g. RMN, Social Work Degree or equivalent, BSc/Diploma in
  • OT, SROT
  • Substantial experience of managing an extensive and complex caseload of clients with a range of complex mental health
  • presentations.
  • Working within a community mental health setting in either the statutory or voluntary sector
  • Mentoring students in line with professional requirement
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health
  • presentations.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals from various settings.
  • Able to produce well written reports
  • Analytical & Judgement Skills
  • Able to recognise potential difficulties and participate in finding solutions
  • Ability to assess and develop plans to manage risk.
  • Planning & Organising Skills
  • Able to plan creatively to maximise effectiveness of care plans, including complex multi-agency care plans
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage own time and that of the teams.
