Job Description

The Future Homes Hub helps the house building industry come together to address the challenges of creating zero-carbon, nature rich and sustainable homes and places. We are at the heart of rapid and important change in the sector and want to hear from exceptional individuals to join the team.

We're looking for a Head of Place and Nature to help the new homes sector deliver developments that are consistently low carbon, nature-rich, resilient, healthy and beautiful. This high-profile role will provide leadership for the sector, working with senior leaders, government, developers, consultants, planners, and other stakeholders. The role will involve convening expert stakeholders to identify the support required to help the sector implement development scale challenges such as Biodiversity Net Gain, Sustainable Urban Drainage, design codes and arrangements for long-term stewardship and adoption.

Responsibilities

·Lead the workstreams on biodiversity and nature, placemaking, and water resource management

·Create and lead the effective running of industry working groups to help deliver the Hub’s objectives

·Represent the Hub to industry, government, agencies, universities and NGOs

·Inform the sector’s climate and environmental roadmap and sustainability framework

·Oversee the preparation, writing, presentation and dissemination of relevant, accurate, practical papers, guidance and tools for a national audience

·Work with communications colleagues across the Hub and sector on innovative multi-media ways to share solutions with users

·Manage a diverse portfolio of work, supporting the activity of the various workstreams of the Hub

·Keep abreast of relevant zero-carbon, nature and sustainability issues, policy, and industry concerns.

The candidate

Our role is to bring the right people together at the right time to deliver the practical change for the new homes sector. As such, we are looking for open minded, collegiate individuals who can work with people with varying viewpoints, to identify the most effective solutions. You do not have to be a subject matter expert, but you will need a good understanding of the planning system and the commercial and practical constraints and opportunities associated with creating sustainable places.

With demonstrable experience of planning and placemaking for new homes, you will

·Be passionate for delivering a zero-carbon and sustainable future

·Have an enquiring mind

·Show attention to detail, with a collaborative attitude and a commercial mindset.

·Be able to lead others in a common endeavour across multiple organisations

·Be comfortable to work and communicate with senior leaders and policy makers

Rewards

Working at the Future Homes Hub will put you at the heart of sustainability policy with the ability to make significant impact to an improved environment and carbon reduction. Working in a lively, friendly, and highly motivated team, we will offer you

·A salary of £60-75k depending on experience

·Pension

·Flexible working (based in London)

·26 days holiday
