PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Due to the continued success and international growth of the Firm, we are looking for a senior professional to lead our Onboarding team.
  • This senior role offers the challenge of leading and overseeing all aspects of client and matter onboarding in the Firm, escalation of conflicts issues and compliance with anti-money laundering legislation and sanctions.
  • The role will also include responsibility for critically assessing and continually evolving and improving the Firm's systems to optimise the efficiency of the work of the Onboarding Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading in conflict checking, escalation, client onboarding, CDD, anti-money laundering checks, risk assessments, and sanctions checks.
  • Collaborating with the Firm's General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and MLRO.
  • Managing the teams responsible for Conflicts and Financial Crime.
  • Advising on complex business intake issues.
  • Leading system and process enhancement projects.
Ideal Candidate:

  • Extensive experience in leading teams at a major UK or international law firm, specifically handling conflicts, financial crime, sanctions, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Deep understanding of global regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong character, resilience, and ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Experience working outside the UK is advantageous.
This role requires understanding of, and strong relationship building with, Partners and stakeholders outside of the UK. your areas of knowledge and expertise You will have significant experience gained working at a major UK or international law firm, specifically in leading teams handling issues related to conflicts, financial crime and sanctions and undertaking client and matter financial risk assessments.

  • Your judgment, experience and insight will command respect. An in-depth understanding of the regulatory regime applicable to international law firms is essential, with experience working outside of the UK being an advantage
  • Excellent influencing and persuasive skills – the ability to win over others in supporting projects and initiatives
  • Strength of character and resilience
  • Ability to meet to deadlines, manage multiple projects and deliver under pressure
  • A practical approach and an ability to deal with confidential matters with discretion
