The café is located in their award winning visitor centre, situated is an ancient landscape alive with nature, history and folklore. They care for over 450 hectares of ancient wood pasture and rolling heathland which is home to thousands of species of bird, insect, mammal, fungi, tree and plant. Wooded for centuries and once part of a vast royal hunting ground, for the 350,000 people who come to visit each year it is an incredible place to visit
To lead the integration and delivery of all catering elements, creating an exemplar customer experience, with the aim to maximise the income and profit of their cafe and catering offer.
Working at Sherwood Forest Reserve, you'll compliment the unique and fascinating visitor experience offer inspiring their visitors to support nature conservation now and in the future. Working with the Assistant Manager, and a team of Centre Assistants, you'll be responsible for delivering the café's menu offer and driving income, ensuring consistently high customer service and delivery. Excellent staff management and organisational skills will be required to manage the weekly rota effectively and a keen eye for managing budgets and costs are essential to manage costs and margins to maintain profit.
Working as part of the catering team, they need someone who is enthusiastic and hard working, and is determined to make a success of the catering operation.
The Catering Manager will:
Ensure the cafe is delivering the highest standard of customer care.
Achieve financial targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to deliver against catering goals.
Ensure the cafe is commercially merchandised according to the agreed layout and stock levels are appropriate.
Ensure all catering administration, operating processes, security, food hygiene and health and safety adhere to their procedures.
Ensure that all catering staff and volunteers are recruited trained and managed in accordance with the charity's guidelines and policy that results efficient team working.
Be responsible for the planning and efficient day to day running of the cafe.
GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
Appropriate Catering Qualification e.g. NVQ Catering.
Computer literate.
Sound understanding of systems and procedures necessary to run a commercial catering operation.
Well developed food presentation skills.
Proven track record of managing a successful catering operation.
Experience of managing and delivering targets and KPIs for a catering business.
Experience of analysing and interpreting financial data in a catering environment.
Experience of working with stock management systems and stock controls.
Delivering an exemplar customer service experience.
Multi-site catering experience.
Working knowledge of equal opportunities and diversity.
