Principal Mechanical Engineer
London
Permanent
Office/Home Hybrid Working

Do you want to be a part of a growing M&E team? Can you collaborate with colleagues across UK and International projects? Are you experienced in Mechanical Infrastructure Design? Then, this could be the next adventure in your career.

Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow
To further our mechanical capability on Infrastructure projects, we are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join us.

Your primary task will be to oversee engineering work related to design of mechanical services and installations for stations, tunnels and other infrastructure systems. Your role will be focused on the design environment, which, while based in the UK, will involve interacting day-to-day with colleagues across our global hubs. There may also be opportunities to broaden your contribution to other areas within the MEP discipline as well as client-side or site-based roles in a variety of major infrastructure settings.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Contributing towards the design of projects for a wide range of clients
  • Planning design work and deliverables together with wider MEP team
  • Development and technical assurance of design including use of relevant software
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary aspects of projects
  • Mentoring junior team members in design
  • Contributing to the building of relationships with clients and other stakeholders

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you’ll have:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Achieved Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent)
  • Relevant experience within mechanical systems design, selection and specification of components
  • The ability to provide technically sound solutions alone and as a discipline lead
  • A solid mechanical understanding of HVAC systems, pressurisation systems, cooling and heating systems
  • A good understanding of specifications for mechanical systems and installations
  • Exposure to other mechanical systems such as control systems, pumping stations, fire suppression systems would be an advantage
  • Experience with 3D modelling and BIM
  • Knowledge of CDM2015 regulations
  • Experience of design and build projects would be beneficial which may include designer's representation on site
