Location: East Sussex
Job Type: Full-time
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to oversee our accounting team on a 6 month temporary basis.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of accountants and finance professionals, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and providing strategic insights to optimize our financial performance. This role requires a combination of strong leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Participate in regular tax audits and payroll.
- Prepare budgeting reports and forecast revenues.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with the law and company’s financial policies.
- Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability.
- Develop secure procedures to maintain confidential information.
- Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations.
- Consult with management to guide and influence long-term and strategic decision making within the broadest scope.
- Drive the financial planning of the company by analysing its performance and risks.
- Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
- Set up and oversee the company’s finance IT system.
- Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants and financial assistants.
- Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback.
- Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as an Accounts Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus.
