As a Specialist Inspector, you will inspect a variety of workplaces, ensuring engineering risks are being actively managed and reduced.
Analysing construction engineering related incidents, you will identify causes and, where necessary, lead the technical aspects of the investigation, calling in other scientific support and supporting enforcement action.
You will also provide specialist expertise in formal written reports to guide regulatory decisions and appear as an expert witness at tribunals, inquests and criminal courts during prosecutions.
Additionally, you will share information and advice towards policy, research and guidance to benefit other Government departments, the public, industry, professional bodies and trade associations.
Civil and structural engineering experience including knowledge of site processes and techniques
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) relevant to civil or structural engineering
A full, valid driving licence
Please note, you will be expected to spend occasional periods working away from home which will include overnight stays.
For the legal requirements of the role, you will be enrolled on a two year Specialist Training Programme (STP) comprising in depth legal training and assessments as well as any further technical training required.
Other organisations may call this role Construction Engineering Inspector, Construction Engineer, Safety Inspector, Quality Inspector, Construction Engineering Assessor, or Engineering Risk Inspector.
