Veetee is a growing SME food manufacturing business, mainly producing rice and grain products. We have two factories and three warehouses in Rochester, Kent, one manufacturing site in India and a Sales & Distribution team in the USA. We provide products to the majority of the large Food Retailers.

Job Purpose:

The Chieff Financial Officer has overall responsibility for the strategic planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk and governance as well as negotiations. Furthermore, ensure that the company's financial commitments are met across the UK, India, and North America Business functions and work with the Leadership team to build the Brand and meet growth aspirations.

Accountability and Responsibilities:

  • Liquidity; Return on investment (ROI); Forecasting and Reporting.
  • Lead the Finance & IT operations predominantly for UK and North America by motivating and managing the team so that they reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with the owners and senior management teammates to set and drive the company's strategic vision and operational strategy.
  • Work with the Finance team to manage costs, optimise operational costs, without compromising quality and customer/consumer experience.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial & IT management within the company.
  • Ensure group compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and control the company’s annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the company’s teammates to enable them to achieve their objectives.
  • Preparation of the company’s financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
  • Implement an internal audit programme to ensure that the company complies with financial procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and tax reporting requirements with responsibility for accurate provision of statutory accounts.
  • Manage the treasury operations including liquidity, accurate cash-flow forecasts, and compliance with and reporting on banking covenants.
  • Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the company.
  • Review accounting processes and procedures. Implement improvements to data quality and drive standardisation to generate efficiency.
  • Understand and articulate the business processes, business drivers, the business issues and KPIs/OKRs.
  • Work alongside a third-party provider and the IT Manager to ensure the needs of the users within the business are achieved.
  • Any other reasonable duties associated with the role or projects assigned to meet the overall objectives of the role.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years post-qualification experience.
  • At least 5 years Food manufacturing or other FMCG experience at a similar level.
  • Proven experience working in an organisation with multiple stakeholders in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Broad experience in the finance function: commercial business, planning, accounting, control, treasury, consolidation, mergers & acquisitions, reporting, driving productivity and efficiencies etc.
  • Working extensively with sales & marketing teams on product launches, route to market; redesign of consumer business, product portfolio management, value change optimisation, pricing, implementation of direct dispatch to organised retail etc.
  • Able to demonstrate strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Expereince with ERP Systems and managing third party suppliers would be desirable.
  • Fully qualified accountant and in-depth knowledge of accounting software, corporate principles, and financial analysis.
  • Expertise in IFRS/GAAP standards and good knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficient in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Capable of demonstrating improve pricing, productivity, and enhancing operational efficiency to deliver bottom-line growth and increased profitability.
  • Strong organisational skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for resources, ability to adapt to change.
  • As well as providing high-level strategic decision making must be able to demonstrate an analytical mind with attention to detail.
