Do you have a great rapport with children and young people? We help children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their parents and carers to understand legal processes that impact their access to education, health and social care. We support them to work in partnership with school, the local authority and other agencies, whilst developing their knowledge, confidence, and self-esteem, enabling them to feel empowered, understood and to participate effectively. We help with exploring solutions to challenges and difficulties encountered by children and young people with SEND, and to help them to be involved in the decisions that impact them.
We are a strong supportive team who work collaboratively to support each other and to ensure that the service works effectively to meet the needs of children and young people and their families.
The CYP worker’s role is to help children and young people to develop their skills and confidence in expressing their needs, views and wishes, and taking an active role in the processes and decisions that impact their lives.

* supporting the development and delivery of training programs for parents, carers and professionals.
* providing feedback to help develop the strategic work of DIAS in expanding and improving the support provided to children and young people across the county.
We are looking for someone who has experience in working directly with children and young people either one to one and / or in groups. You will have a good understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people with SEND, and skills and ability to engage and communicate effectively with children and young people with a range of needs.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be computer literate and confident with social media. You will need to be able to work independently and flexibly, with an ability to travel.
Knowledge of the relevant educational legislation for children and young people aged 0-25 with SEND, along with knowledge of the law relating to disability discrimination, exclusion, and bullying would be an advantage.
Whilst you will need to use your own initiative and be able to work independently, you will also be an excellent team player and work well with others to ensure that children and young people achieve the best outcomes.
The role is based at Great Moor House in Exeter but will involve travel throughout Devon. We will consider flexible working requests, including term-time only working.
