CAD Development Engineer

Job Description As a central role within the Projects Team, you will be responsible for the development of client designs from concept, through prototyping and manufacture. You will be solely responsible for all development of our Contract Projects as well as customised versions of our large Installations.

Main Responsibilities:
Development of designs and concepts, as well as prototypes, at the request of the Contract Sales Director to ensure that Heathfield can support clients throughout their projects
Develop CAD drawings and models, where required for customised versions of our product range, bespoke projects, and new products
Interpret and modify existing CAD drawings
Advise on compliance requirements within the company’s manufacturing and development departments and share appropriate knowledge aimed at improving compliance levels
Development of CAD models, renders and shop drawings for prototyping and manufacture
CAD/Drawing file management of new and existing designs
Liaising with suppliers to develop and cost up components and assemblies
BOMS and part management of new and existing designs
Undertake visits to site and client premises to assess any quality issues or faults as they may arise and propose the most commercially viable solution
Assist in the design, development and delivery of custom lighting installation projects when required
Ensure projects are of high quality, cost-effective and are manufacturable
Communicate directly with suppliers, where necessary, to agree upon technical and manufacturing techniques.
Research new supplies, manufacturing methods and materials
Develop design proposals, project costings, and prepare presentations
Regular and accurate reporting of a project status
Ensure the development solutions fulfill the client's requirements
Effectively communicate design options & constraints to the Projects Team

Establish, maintain, and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers
Understand drivers of customer satisfaction and strive to improve customer experiences
Undertake other reasonable duties as defined by the Operations Manager
Prioritise and manage workload efficiently
Follow communications, procedures, guidelines, and policies
Meet personal and team targets
Effective time management

Skills
~3-5 years CAD development experience in a manufacturing environment
~ Proficient in Inventor and/or SolidWorks
~ Experience in the lighting or high-end interiors industry will be a distinct advantage
