The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is recruiting qualified lawyers across England and Wales. If you have criminal advocacy experience and want to advance your skills within a supportive Civil Service organisation, this is an opportunity for you.
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and fair prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority in England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As a level 2 crown advocate, you’re at the forefront of our work - conducting trials, appeals and non-contested hearings in the magistrates’ and Crown Court. You provide verbal and written advocacy in prosecutions ranging from burglary to assault, presenting cases clearly and persuasively to help us deliver justice for victims of crime. Your development is supported with full training and opportunities to work in increasingly complex cases, including jury trials in the Crown Court.
We’re looking for qualified barristers and solicitors who have completed the crown advocate and jury training courses. Your leadership skills and advanced knowledge of criminal law allow you to review complex evidence and challenge opposing legal argument in multi-handed cases. Commitment to public service, a focus on continuous learning, and understanding of our role within the criminal justice system is essential.
