Our boutique transatlantic law firm is inviting applications from junior barristers qualified in England and Wales who are seeking to develop a commercial practice. We are looking for a candidate to join our vibrant London office on a medium or long-term secondment, including potential for full time permanent transfer.

Any given day might include advising on a time critical termination of an oil trading contract and helping a shipowner through a casualty or drafting a creative application stretching the boundaries of the CPR and preparing for a hearing.

We have a good track record of building practices in the commercial sphere for talented junior barristers. Previous employees are now tenants at sets such as Quadrant Chambers or 20 Essex and those with a broader common law background are transferring to and/or members of the Hong Kong or Queensland Bar.
Applications from the commercial and civil Bar are preferred. Applications from the criminal and family Bar will be considered. Some experience in commodities, oil trading and/or shipping/transportation matters would be preferred but is not essential. Additional experience in related matters such as trade finance is a plus. Candidates must have strong written advocacy skills. There will be opportunities for oral advocacy, primarily in London/International Arbitration and interim/interlocutory hearings, as well as to act as junior counsel to leading silks on major Commercial Court cases.
We have a ‘Qualified Person’ available for BSB regulatory purposes for those still within the New Practitioners Programme.
We envisage significant opportunities for international travel between offices and to see clients for longer term candidates. Cross qualification in the US will be supported for permanent candidates wishing to do so.
