Diesel Engineer

Our client is awell-established and renowned river cruise company that has beenoperating on the Thames for over 160 years and their fleet consists ofmultiple boats. They are currently looking for a Diesel Engineer tojoin the crew. They are looking for someone with a keen interest andstrong technical knowledge of diesel engines and passionate aboutboats and water would be a plus.

The potentialcandidate will perform routine-based maintenance services, ensure thatall aspects of diesel engines are taken care of before, during, andafter any event, and put preventive measures in place to ensure thatthe clients' and crew's health and safety are alwaysprioritised. Previous experience with diesel engines (diesel-poweredtrains - truck, bus, generators is a must, working on marine dieselengines would be ideal).

Previous marine industryexperience is preferred but not required.

-- RESPONSIBILITIES –

  • Mechanicalengineering (service and diagnosis of diesel engines, for example)
  • Providing overall boat maintenance services across a widerange of marina support (Winterising, Plumbing, diesel heatingsystems, etc).
  • Take responsibility for health and safety inall aspects of your role.
  • Driving vessels under thesupervision of the Captain
  • Leading and inspiring colleaguesin developing their technical knowledge and understanding

-- REQUIREMENTS –

  • Experience with diesel-driven engine or generatormaintenance
  • Lives within commutable distance to Embankment,London
  • Team player and positive attitude
  • Willing towork overtime with some evenings during events on the boats
  • An interest in spending times on the Thames
