Purpose
You will be responsible for the delivery and governance of a multi-disciplinary therapy service by assessing, implementing (directly or through junior staff), and evaluating personalised rehabilitation programmes as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, you will provide strong leadership and management for the therapies team, including recruitment, appraisals, and performance management.
Key Relationships
- Line management responsibility for the Therapy Team Manager.
- Foster good relationships and work closely with both internal and external multidisciplinary teams.
- Support and work alongside volunteers within the team.
- Maintain robust communication networks with the Head of Clinical Services, Service Director, and other agencies and professionals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation at meetings and forums as required.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage the therapy team.
- Manage the unit’s complex caseload, providing highly specialist treatment programmes to meet individual needs.
- Ensure practice complies with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards and relevant professional ethics.
- Implement evidence-based practice to ensure effective service provision and positive outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources.
- Share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching within the therapy team and the wider centre.
- Continuously develop team knowledge and expand clinical/rehabilitation skills and effectiveness.
- Work closely with other areas of the organisation, including fundraising, marketing, and policy/campaigns, providing information and analysis to support the delivery of the organisational strategy.
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensure service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on additional reasonable tasks.
About You:
- BSc degree level qualification in either Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
- Management degree or equivalent experience.
- Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council.
- Post-registration training in a relevant speciality.
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
- Current registration with relevant Professional Body.
- Member of a Professional Specialist Interest Group or willingness to join.
- Demonstrable experience of evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
- Highly specialist knowledge and application of therapy assessments and interventions using complex clinical reasoning.
- Experience managing a team, including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment, and disciplinary issues.
- Ability to work autonomously and set priorities.
- Ability to confidently assess and manage risk related to therapist/therapy service performance.
- Organisational skills to efficiently handle complex information.
- Competent IT skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice.
- Excellent advanced communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships.
- Motivational skills and goal-setting for personalised care.
- Leadership and visionary skills to inspire the therapy team.
