Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ experience in wind or solar farm asset management
  • Experience with remote monitoring systems on plant and equipment (preferably in wind or solar)
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, work instructions, and design reviews
  • Advanced Excel Skills (knowledge of macros, Visual Basic, Python, or SQL is advantageous)

Desirable Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience in contract and budget management
  • IOSH managing safely or other Health & Safety qualifications (HV awareness, WTSR’s)
  • Experience in O&M, construction, or consultancy within the wind or solar industry

Purpose of the Asset Manager - Wind/Solar Role:

To manage a portfolio of wind and/or solar assets and SPVs, ensuring best practices for safety, quality, and environmental performance, while enhancing project returns and value. Compliance with all applicable contractual agreements is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage contracts and ongoing activities to ensure compliance with:
  • Statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements
  • Local planning authority requirements
  • Grid company connection conditions and power purchase agreements
  • Other relevant agreements
  • Optimize project performance by:
  • Monitoring contractor performance during maintenance
  • Enhancing maintenance strategies to reduce downtime
  • Reviewing contractor reports and addressing issues
  • Building strong contractor relationships
  • Supervising subcontractors or management contractors as required
  • Establishing KPIs to monitor asset performance
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment faults with support from O&M or the Monitoring Team
  • Prepare regular asset management reports
  • Act as the primary Ofgem contact for managed assets
  • Visit sites to assess status and conditions (up to 4 times per year per project)
  • Manage:
  • Spare parts and strategies to reduce risk and downtimes
  • Insurance and warranty claims
  • Site performance calculations and analyses
  • Key deadlines under project contracts, including tendering and renewal
  • Planned preventative maintenance to optimize performance and minimize risk
  • Site OPEX and Capex budgets and forecasting
  • Site strategies and specific projects
  • Operating Plans, Asset Registers, and other management tools
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality in accordance with job role, SLAs, company data policies, privacy notices, GDPR, and UK legislation. Pay particular regard to data generated by CCTV or classified as personal data.
  • Comply with fire, health, and safety requirements, including awareness of applicable policies, risk assessments, and necessary training.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested by management.

Interactions:

  • Communicate information within the team as required
  • Collaborate with other teams as necessary
  • Attend team meetings, company meetings, handovers, portfolio and investment meetings, and appraisals as required

Job Location:

This is a remote role with required visits to the Bristol office once a month. Frequent UK travel is expected. Occasional international travel may be required for training purposes. The role necessitates the ability to drive for site visits within the UK and Europe.
