SEN Casework Officer Wanted
Come and join the SEN Team at Hove Town Hall. We are a well-established and respected team delivering a statutory service for children and young people in the city who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The post is part-time.
We are looking for an efficient and hardworking SEN Casework Officer to ensure the right statutory provision is available at the right time for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Working within the legislative framework, you will be responsible for co-ordinating the assessment, production and review of Education Health and Care (EHC) plans and other aspects of special educational needs of individual pupils.
You will have a caseload related to a defined group of schools, colleges or geographical area, and will work closely with parents, carers and professionals from a range of voluntary and statutory agencies.
SEN Casework Officers are also tasked with one or more special areas of responsibility.
While a background in education, social care or special educational needs are advantageous, they are not essential. You will be working to challenging deadlines and will need to have a flexible approach but will have a supportive team of experienced casework officers and managers around you.
A key responsibility is writing and amending Educational Health & Care Plans using reports from a variety of professionals such as Educational Psychologists, Social Care and Health professionals. You should be a skilled communicator that is able to support service users to co-produce their EHC Plan, capture their voice within and crucially ensure that statutory guidelines are adhered to.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hoursor term-time only.
