About The Role

1 st Line Support Technician / IT Apprentice

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire (S75 1JN)

Salary: £7.71 per hour

Role Type: 18-month Fixed Term Contract, 37 hours per week

As a 1 st Line Support Technician, you will gain practical hands-on experience within a skilled and friendly IT team here in Barnsley. You will be at ease liaising with members of staff and guiding them through first tier IT troubles, both with hardware and software. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communication Technician qualification. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in technology to kick-start their IT career with a supportive company

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Managing end user devices (laptops, mobile phones, Toughbook’s)
  • Configuring devices alongside standard operating procedures
  • Monitoring IT stock records and maintaining an organised stock area
  • Acting as a first line support for emails, tickets and phone calls to the Service Desk
  • Managing administrative duties for your own work and for the IT Team

What You’ll Bring:

  • An interest in IT such as gaming, hardware or specific software programmes
  • Good IT skills to include MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and use of desktop and mobile devices
  • An eagerness to learn with a natural curiosity and the self-motivation for your own development
  • Communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to build good working relationships easily
  • The ability to multi-task and react to different priorities
  • A desire to deliver excellent customer service for each call, email or ticket that is raised

About you:

Due to the nature of sites on which we operate, the successful candidate must:

  • Meet the security clearance requirements for the role which includes, but is not limited to, the successful candidate being a full-time resident of the UK for the past 5 years’
