Join our Water UK&I team as the Technical Head of Process Engineering, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction, quality, and innovation of our projects across the UK & Ireland. At AECOM, we’re committed to delivering transformative solutions through an exceptional portfolio of water programs, tackling some of the most pressing infrastructure challenges alongside major UK water companies and international clients.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to drive technical excellence and mentor a team of skilled engineers in collaboration with our global Water Technical Practice Group. From advancing our digital transformation efforts to being a technical lead in our most complex, high-impact projects, you’ll be at the forefront of what’s next in water engineering.
This role offers flexibility to be based at any of our offices across the UK&I, along with the benefits of our hybrid working model.
Lead Technical Excellence: Working with our Technical Excellence Director and other Technical Heads, act as the focal point for technical performance in Process Engineering, setting standards and ensuring best practices are shared across teams. Support Project Resourcing and Development: Collaborate with Operational Directors to align resources on projects, manage succession planning, and support hiring. Identify training needs and ensure technical career development plans are identified for team members.
Ensure Quality Delivery: Provide technical oversight on complex projects through engineering reviews (HAZOP, SWIFT, ALM), maintaining AECOM’s high standards. Set and manage quality standards and templates to ensure consistent delivery across all water projects.

Experience leading process engineering initiatives, particularly within water and wastewater treatment projects, from initial design through to construction.
A degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biology or Chemical Engineering with appropriate Professional Qualifications and acumen.
