About the Role: This newly created role comes at a time of rapid institutional growth across all ESL campuses. The Assistant Registrar will support the Registrar in managing student complaints, academic misconduct, appeals, and disciplinary processes. The role also involves reviewing and updating these policies to reflect best practices in the UK and aligning them with ESL standards. Additionally, the Assistant Registrar will plan and deliver staff training and manage the establishment of a dedicated Complaints, Appeals, Misconduct, and Discipline (CAMD) team. Duties & Responsibilities Process Management: Assist the Registrar in managing student complaints, disciplinary actions, academic misconduct cases, and appeals processes in accordance within the ESL and academic partnership policies and procedures. Team Leadership: Line manage the Academic Standards and Student Case Officer and other relevant staff ,overseeing daily activities, providing training, conducting appraisals, and planning workloads. Collaboration: Liaise with academic partners to share best practices and ensure coordinated support for students across campuses. Policy Review: Assist in the review and revision of appeal, complaint, and disciplinary policies and procedures, researching best practices in the UK and drafting amendments in consultation with the Quality Team. Training Delivery: Plan and deliver staff training related to complaints, appeals, and disciplinary procedures, in collaboration with the Quality Team, Student Success Team, and the Registrar. Records Management: Manage records of appeals, misconduct, and complaints, ensuring appropriate use of ESL and partner systems. Reporting: Develop and prepare statistical reports on student appeals and complaints to support the Registrar’s reporting to the Academic Board and Partnership Assessment Board. Case Preparation: Support the Registrar in preparing case materials for the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education. Other Duties: Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties commensurate with the post's level of responsibility and experience as required. Flexibility: Occasionally work outside normal office hours Occasional travel may be required.
