Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Ensure a robust trading control environment, adherence to policies, and adequacy of resources and skill sets.
  • Lead or support systems related to exposure management and management information (MI) within the control function.
  • Manage and lead the Trade Control team for Global Trade Control activities.
  • Oversee trade control systems, including Allegro, Horizon, and FEA.
  • Ensure timely settlement of paper trading activities and accurate allocation of profits to the correct profit centres.
  • Supervise daily, weekly, and monthly trading exposure, profit & loss reporting, and KPI calculation, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
  • Reconcile management information to financial accounts and address any issues that arise.
  • Establish new exposure management or entrepreneurial trading books as necessary.
  • Support new business activities by covering trade control aspects in the assurance process and providing project resources for new trade control processes.
  • Conduct risk analysis for new trading strategies, trading limits, neutral stocks, and other business risk assessments.
  • Provide leadership within the Mid Office team and manage resource requirements.
  • Serve as the focal point between office functions and offer technical and commercial knowledge to support other business areas when needed.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • Degree in Finance, STEM, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in trading or control/risk management.
  • Preferably, previous team leader experience.
  • Understanding of the commodities trading industry, including markets, products, and exchanges.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance and assurance.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (e.g., accrual and mark-to-market).
  • Experience in control and assurance processes.

  • Proactively identify and communicate potential issues to appropriate teams or stakeholders, ensuring follow-up and resolution.
