Vacancy for Lecturer (Digital Information and Curatorial Practice) at Manchester Metropolitan University

Added on 5 May 2021

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is a unique environment where Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences sit alongside the Manchester School of Art and the Manchester Fashion Institute. Student experience is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to offer state-of-the-art facilities, including digital and technical workshops, studios and gallery spaces designed to enhance learning and collaboration.

About the role:
We are looking to appoint a lecturer in Digital Information and Curatorial Practice with subject specialism(s) in one or more of the following areas: library, information management, archive, collections and/or curating.

The ideal candidate should have experience of a creative approach to designing and delivering HE curriculum at undergraduate and postgraduate level in subject specific and interdisciplinary contexts. This role requires a versatile approach and ability to contribute to teams that span a wide range of digital arts and digital communications disciplines, encompassing both academics and industry professionals.

The ideal candidate will make a strong contribution to our programmes in the areas of digital collections development, digital assets technologies and platforms, digital rights management, strategic planning and change management, and to further develop subject specialisms related to information and data curation practice and its importance in new digital initiatives.

The applicant should also have an in-depth understanding of current industry trends within this field and be able to conduct research and deliver programmes that are grounded in the present but offer space to explore the future – leading students to investigate what it means to be a creative media practitioner at the convergence of technology and innovation.

The role is co-managed across two areas – the iSchool (a section of the department of Languages, Information and Communications) and our new School of Digital Arts.

If you would like to join our people and share our ambition, we would love to hear from you.

Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring and particularly encourage applications from groups which are underrepresented in the University workforce.

We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations about this, as well as any reasonable adjustments required throughout the application process.
