Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Radar Recruitment Full time

Following strong commercial performance and future growth opportunities in the pipeline, this is a newly created position on the senior leadership team of a leading food manufacturing business. As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for a multi site operation, across all aspects of both Maintenance and Projects.

We are looking for someone who can design and execute a change management programme - engineering at the moment is reactive and has remained so with volumes increasing significantly in recent years. There are currently CAPEX projects going on that will lead to expansion and 3-5 years worth of future projects in the pipeline, with a couple likely to kick off in Q1/Q2 2025. The remit is to create a more pro-active and planned Engineering function, with a proper planned maintenance strategy, driving of root cause analysis and general machinery reliability, as well as successfully overseeing the capital projects on site.

Manage, coach, and support engineering team
Implement and monitor technical strategy performance metrics
Communicate engineer team goals with engineering staff members
Coordinate internal teams to ensure project timelines and budgets are met

This role would suit an existing Engineering Manager who is looking for their first multi site remit or an existing multi site Engineering Manager. The teams are relatively small, so you don't need to have managed huge teams of 50+ engineers, but having good Engineering Management experience across both maintenance and projects is a plus. Food manufacturing experience is preferred, but wider FMCG will be considered.

There are lots of reasons to join...this is a brand new position which you can make your own and you will be given the autonomy to do so by an Operations Director who is fully supportive of the changes you need to deliver and has many years of working in the business. The business are growing quickly and there is future scope to move into wider Engineering or Operational roles in the future as part of a development plan. You can manage your own schedule - the business sees this role as spending 2 days a week on each site with 1 working from home, but there is some common sense flexibility there as well, depending on the needs of both yourself and the business.
