The School of Education, Humanities & Languages at Oxford Brookes University seeks to appoint a new Teaching Fellow in History of Art. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching History of Art at undergraduate level. They will be a highly motivated teacher who communicates well with students, and has particular expertise in nineteenth and/or twentieth-century western art. An ability to teach a range of different media in the visual arts will be regarded positively, as will an ability to teach some material from outside the western tradition.

The successful candidate must hold – or be close to the completion of – a doctorate in a relevant field.

In addition to teaching, you will participate in recruitment activities, offer pastoral support to a diverse body of students, and have a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

You will be given training, support, mentoring and opportunities for Professional Development.

You will be responsible for:

  • delivering beginner to advanced undergraduate modules in History of Art though face-to-face teaching
  • administering undergraduate teaching
  • contributing to the development of the History of Art programme.

You should have:

  • a PhD in History of Art or closely related discipline, or close to completion
  • experience of teaching History of Art at undergraduate level
  • excellent team-working and communication skills.
