Description

The Golf Shop Assistant Manager will offer friendly and expedient service to the property’s members & guests and assist the golf professional staff in golf shop operations, merchandise sales and other golf-related activities.

  • Receives shipments, prepares merchandise, and receives merchandise into inventory through the POS system.
  • Presents merchandise in attractive displays, changes/updates displays on a regular basis. Ensures a fresh look is maintained in the shop.
  • Processes receiving documents for accounts payable.
  • Assists in monthly/quarterly inventory in retail shop.
  • Maintains receiving log to cross-check with general ledger monthly.
  • Maintains sufficient stock levels and assists in ordering merchandise for retail shop. Places special orders for members and guests.
  • Ensures stockrooms are kept organized so that items are easy to locate.
  • Sells and maintains retail shop merchandise while providing guest service.
  • Performs opening and closing procedures for the shop or store.
  • Responsible for accountability of all sales and money transactions made.
  • Collects applicable fees from patrons as they arrive.
  • Makes reservations (tee-times, classes, etc) and assists customers on the phone.
  • Assists with general cleaning of the shop or store.
  • May work with guest services and player assistants to facilitate orderly start and play on the golf course.
  • Assists in scheduling and training of shop staff.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Must have a friendly and positive personality
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic
  • Knowledge about the game of golf preferred

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s degree (AA); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stands and uses hands, reaches with hands and arms, talks or hears. Occasionally walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
