Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a well motivated and experienced Band 6 Specialist Audiologist.


The post holder will be the Lead for our Diagnostic Assessment Service, which will include testing of neonates referred from The Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.


This busy department provides a comprehensive Audiology service to the local population of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.
The service delivers all aspects of diagnostic and rehabilitative Audiology. We also provide a diagnostic service, including the latest Bone Anchored Hearing Devices, Hearing Therapy, and Balance Assessment and Rehabilitation.


Developing and implementing effective individual aural rehabilitation strategies to optimise patient communication abilities and report on diagnostic outcomes. You will also help in the supervision of student audiologists and assistants as required.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.


Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.
To provide diagnostic audiological and Vestibular testing of adults and children, to be responsible for the safe use and calibration of equipment ensuring accurate records are maintained.
To be the clinical lead for the Audiological Testing of newborn babies referred from the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP).
To provide comprehensive hearing aid service to adults including determining care plans for individual patients, and involving carers and families where appropriate.
To plan and prioritise elements of own workload, within the framework of service delivery priorities, to supervise the work of trainees, students and Audiologists of a lower grade as required.
BSc in Clinical Audiology from an accredited University or equivalent. Registered as Clinical Physiologist in Audiology with AHCS or HCPC.
Appropriate Post graduate experience working as Band 5.
Experience of Paediatric Audiology including diagnostic testing of neonates.

Full UK Driving Licence.
An enquiring interest in Audiology.
A commitment to offer only a high quality service.
An awareness of national Audiology and NHS developments.
Ability to share knowledge and engage others in projects
