The Community Resuscitation Engagement Officer (CREO) will drive the development of community resuscitation across the defined locality.

This role is based in Cumbria.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will develop a sustainable infrastructure that supports basic Life Support education and training, improve defibrillator provision and engage with communities and other stakeholders.

Coordinate the delivery of a range of courses in basic Life Support skills across the area to members of the public/organisations and community groups, working within a community resuscitation trainer team.

The CREO will educate, train, and support the community in heart health initiatives to maximise impact in community resuscitation and increase the chances of survival from an out of hospital cardiac arrest, fully embedding the core principles of the Chain of Survival. By utilising public health data that will enable targeted improvements in hard-to-reach communities increasing resilience from within.

The post holder will work within the Trust strategy within the community resuscitation team.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • IHCD Technician Qualification or equivalent

  • Education / Instructor Qualification - Certificate of Education

  • Certificate of Education / training qualification

Skills and Abilities

Essential


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Training, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of the mechanisms used to identify training needs in the individual and organisation.
  • Effective report writing skills
  • Ability to develop strategies in the community to support delivery of objectives
  • Proven ability to lead the development of quality improvement in a challenging environment that is designed to improve quality, effectiveness, and accountability.
  • Able to stimulate and support an open and inclusive working environment where integrity and respect are evident and highly valued
  • Able to participate in programmes of change, both departmentally and on a broader organisational setting, generating ideas and innovative ways of working.
  • Demonstrates excellent networking skills

Knowledge and Experience

Essential


  • Excellent knowledge of Resuscitation Council (UK) current guidelines.
  • Excellent BLS and AED skills.
  • Previous experience of working within NHS & or volunteer guidelines.
  • Experience of developing, supporting and motivating individuals and a team in a similar working environment

Desirable


  • Knowledge of Ambulance Service and NHS development programmes.
  • Experience of applying strategy and policy in a governance setting.
  • Experience of working with complex information/data, analysing, evaluating, and presenting evidence and performance trend analysis to support reporting procedures.

  • Holds a full driving licence with the ability to travel to locations throughout the North West
