An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join a newly formed team, Safer Roads for West Midlands who will deliver national driver education courses as an alternative to prosecution, improving road safety and reducing casualties on our roads. The team will work within West Midlands Police as a distinct part of the Operations department.

The team will initially consist of a Training Manager, 6 Training Officers and 2 Business Support assistants, with significant growth planned. As a Safer Roads for West Midlands Training Officer, you will deliver training, learning and development interventions, to meet the requirements of the NDORS scheme and support the objective to improve road safety and reduce killed and seriously injured road casualties through education.

About the Role

As a Safer Roads for West Midlands Training Officer, you will be reporting to the Safer Roads Manager whereby you will deliver National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) training to customers referred through the scheme to deliver excellent customer service and course delivery, contributing to our aim of improving road safety throughout the West Midlands. The training will need to be of a high standard using a range of media; in order to meet the required quality of performance and learning outcomes.

The training Officer will support the Safer Roads for West Midlands Manager in delivering and maintaining high quality courses which meet the national programme requirements and standards. You will need to assess and evaluate learning and development activities to meet national and local quality standards in order to identify opportunities for continuous improvement whilst providing regular feedback.

As a training officer, you will be required to gather & submit data with regards to delivering and evaluating of organisational information and quality standards along with maintaining accurate records and the timely submission of relevant data to local and national databases, ensuring compliance with GDPR and Management of Police information. As an officer, you will also be required to conduct risk assessments and implement health & safety procedures appropriate to the venues and learning and development activities that are being delivered.

You will deliver training in classroom venues across the force and online, online training currently accounts for the majority of demand. This role will be suitable for significant home working for online delivery, while classroom training will take place at classroom venues across the communities of the West Midlands.

We are offering a full-time post based on a 37 hour per week shift pattern whereby you will be required to work from 8am until 4pm. Two days (Tuesday & Thursday) you will be required to work from 10am until 6pm. Future expansion of working days and times is planned.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

Hold and maintain a UKROEd licence and accreditation to deliver one or more of the range of NDORS courses. Please specify all licences held in your application. Be competent in the delivery of training via Zoom, Teams or other platforms. Hold a full driving licence and be prepared to travel around the West Midlands to various locations as and when required. Have a good understanding and awareness of the issues of equality, diversity and human rights within the training environment and have a high level of personal integrity. Have effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to influence and negotiate. Able to develop and maintain effective working partnerships. Effective Time Management skills. Competent in the use of IT including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or other presentation formats. Must be prepared to work agilely, where required. Desirable Criteria

To be qualified as an ADI instructor for on-road training. Hold a UKROEd Instructor licence. Hold a UKROEd Assessor licence. To have a Level 3 Quality Assurance qualification or relevant experience in assessing training delivery. Flexibility around working patterns according to customer needs, to include some Tuesday and Thursday evenings initially. Hold First Aid Training & Health & Safety Training Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
