An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band B7 Occupational Therapist to join CLCH's well established Unplanned Care (D2A/RR) Team based in Edgware Community Hospital, Barnet, North London.


The successful applicant will receive regular supervision have access to a wide range of development opportunities to support their continued professional development. The successful post holders should have a Bsc/Msc in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC membership. They should be highly organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills, evidence and experience of being able to assess Occupational Therapy needs, set goals and formulate treatment plans, with sound clinical knowledge and proven experience in acute and community clinical environments. He/she will participate in seven day working Rota and have an ability to work 37.There is a comprehensive induction into the community service. To comply with all the organisational and departmental policies and procedures. To contribute to discussions on service/policy development and provide comments on proposals and to propose changes where required.


~ To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out occupational therapy duties and to adhere to departmental equipment policy, including competence to use equipment. To ensure the safe use of equipment by others through teaching, training, and supervision of practice.


~ Be aware of the Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including the prompt recording, and reporting of accidents and incidents to senior staff.


~ Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
Registration with the Health Professional Council
Post-graduate training in Approaches to Rehabilitation/Cognitive rehabilitation/Neurological rehabilitation or equivalent.

A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience with a minimum of 2 years in older peoples/rehabilitation and Community services
Experience in working with people with complex health and social issues
Experience in working collaboratively across agencies in planning care for people
Experience in planning complex discharges, co-ordinating services and resources
Experience in working with adults in their own home
Experience of supervising/managing junior and assistant staff

Rotational experience at Band 5 or Band 6 level in acute trusts and community services


Skill in providing risk assessments and care plans in moving and handling
Ability to problem solve in a creative manner and to make clear and realistic decisions with clients and their carers
Knowledge of key legislation within health and social care service
Knowledge of care rehabilitation techniques

Participation in recent NHS Leadership training programme or similar


Flexible to suit the needs of the service
Car driver/owner
