The Senior Director, Technical Operations & Facilities is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the technical operations of the medical school, ensuring the successful provision of services for facilities, information technology, technical operations, and safety & risk services on-campus, as well as distributed sites across the province. In addition, the Senior Director will provide leadership in the development and delivery of capital renovation projects.
As one of the first executive team members for the medical school, this role will be influential in establishing and operationalizing the technical and facilities operations in support of the strategic vision and direction, establishing key operational policies and procedures, developing strategic relationships with external partners, and building a management team capable of driving growth and fostering innovation.
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking, strategic leader with a passion for operational, technical and facilities operations excellence. Master’s degree in Science or Business Administration and 10+ years of related strategic or senior leadership experience in large, multi-site, academic or health services organizations with a recent focus on the development, implementation and evaluation of operational and strategic plans. Progressively senior experience within a large organization; Expertise in facilities development (e.g., planning, design, construction, contract management and procurement) within current municipal, provincial and national standards, codes, bylaws and regulations applicable to health care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated ability to lead within a complex academic environment including ability to balance academic and operational priorities.
Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
ability to influence, persuade and to conduct presentations to senior management.
Excellent leadership, consultation, facilitation, consensus building, conflict resolution, and negotiation and team-building skills.
