An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at AGH Solutions as a Head of Facilities and be a key part of the AGH Solutions Senior Management Team. You will provide oversight for the professional leadership of facilities management services and teams including domestics, security, catering, portering, housekeeping and transport to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues. You will be required to maintain effective working relationships with clinical services and departments across Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and work effectively with a range of external organisations including external contractors and statutory bodies.

You will have senior level experience in managing the delivery of facilities services, providing the vision and drive for the future development of services, and in the leadership and development of teams.

You will possess a problem-solving approach to tasks and be capable of translating strategic plans into workable solutions. You will have strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinical teams.

Main duties of the job

o Professional leadership of facilities management services including domestics, security, catering, portering, housekeeping, transport and other facilities services as deemed appropriate to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.

o Maintain effective working relationships with clinical services and departments across Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

o Work effectively with a range of external organisations including external contractors and statutory bodies.

o Develop links with other NHS organisations across the region to share best practice.

o Ensure effective management of staff and budgets within Facilities Management.

o Negotiation and performance monitoring of all facilities management support services provided through external contractors.

o Deputise for the Manager Director as required.

o To become involved and lead on group level Facilities work programmes as required.

o To be a member of AGH Solutions Senior Management Team.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • oQualified to master's level or equivalent, significant experience in managing facilities services.
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development
  • oFull membership of BIFM, I RICS or other relevant professional institution
Knowledge
  • oComprehensive working knowledge of current technical requirements and legislation relevant to the post.
  • oSubstantial experience in a senior facilities management role in an NHS acute hospital or similar large organisation
  • oAn up-to-date knowledge and awareness of key issues in Facilities management, ideally within the NHS.
  • oExperience in leadership and development of teams.
  • oExperience in the delivery of quality services whilst meeting challenging financial targets.
  • oExperience in managing the delivery of facilities services.
  • oPrivate sector experience.
Skills
  • oAn ability to think strategically and clearly under pressure, reach decisions, prioritise and recommend appropriate action.
  • oProblem-solving approach to tasks, capable of translating strategic plans into workable solutions.
  • oCommercial acumen and able to carry out effective negotiation and with diplomacy.
  • oCommunication and influencing skills.
  • oAbility to work effectively with clinical teams.
  • oGood presentational skills and the confidence and ability to represent the Company at senior-level internal and external meetings.
  • oLeadership skills, to provide vision and drive for the future development of services.
